Welcome to the official website of Ted Wolff,  a noted jazz vibist and teacher located in Northern California.

Here you can browse articles on playing jazz, vibraphone technique, and innovative new approaces to learning jazz improvisation. Take advantage of the free mini-courses that will be online. Check out Ted’s recordings too!

Ted’s new blog will contain frequent postings on several topics relevant to vibes playing and jazz in general. Some of the topics will include:

  • Techniques for mallet dampening and how to apply them to solo playing
  • Analyzing chord progressions in tunes
  • Developing a distinct playing style in jazz – how to find your special voice
  • Recording and amplifying vibes – microphone choice and placement
